How to own this Mercury retrograde in Scorpio
Mercury stations retrograde today and I want to emphasize that the stationing is after I release the blog post, so hopefully it isn’t plagued. Mercury retrograde has a reputation that surpasses its power, in my opinion. Compared to all of the other “horrible” astrology out there, like Saturn and Pluto transits, Mercury retrograde is PG-13. Of course, it can bring flight delays, technology blunders, and sometimes arguments because of too few details.
Since the retrograde cycle that begins today and ends November 2nd is mostly happening in Scorpio (it pops into Libra for a sec), we’re more likely to experience things that are a bit deeper than accidentally sending a nude to your landlord. Scorpio rules all things that are left unseen, from taboos like sex and secrets, to mental health and psychology. It doesn’t have time for small talk and can find meaning in depths that no one else has the cajones to look at. This Mercury retrograde will definitely take things beyond the surface level.
While Mercury is retrograde, things from the past can resurface. Whether it be a text from your ex or old memories that suddenly emerge, things you’d rather forget might be begging for your attention. Of course, you’d rather ignore these outside forces and move on with your life but if you choose to pretend like it isn’t there and keep hustling, that’s when you start to see some of the infamous chaos that Mercury retrograde is said to bring. Resistance to slow down will absolutely backfire. It’s kind of like, when you’re working too much and then you get sick, forcing you to do what you should have done earlier: REST.
Don’t be scared of Mercury retrograde or treat it like a superstition. There is much to gain from this time if you’re willing to squeeze the most from it. If you’re a personal growth junkie and this can be one of the most powerful times of the year for releasing unhealed baggage that’s holding you back from cultivating the life you want and deserve. This cycle provides potent energy to get closure in old relationships, confront your demons, forgive where you need to, and think deeper about how you trust and what boundaries you hold.
To get the most out of this cycle, you need to do a few things.
First, slow down for a change of pace. If you’re a hustler, this can be challenging but if you try to multitask and get ahead during this cycle, you’re probably going to feel like you’ve made no progress by the end. Also, to get in touch with the things that need resolving, you have to create space for things to come through. If you’re looking at screens all day like most people, your mind is being flooded with so many images and messages—making it impossible for your inner wisdom to shine through.
One of the easiest ways to do this is to set aside 10 minutes a day to get centered. Sit on your couch or a comfy chair, play some ambient music, and listen to yourself breathe. That, my loves, is meditation without the complicated connotation!
Second, get in touch with your intuition! Most people will say they don’t feel intuitive or that they can trust their intuition. I often felt the same way! If you make space for the little “pings” to come through and then act on those messages, you’ll start to build trust in yourself and your natural born abilities. One way to strengthen your intuitive muscle is working with tarot cards. Try pulling a card each day and listening to what your heart has to say about the meaning of the card. These messages don’t come from your head, they come from your core and your heart center. Try to notice any feelings that could come up in your lower belly-heart areas. And if you don’t feel anything on a physical level, that’s also totally normal, too.
The third thing I recommend to get in touch with the messages meant to come through for you during this time is to intentionally extract them. There are many ways you can do this but perhaps the easiest and most accessible is to decode your dreams. Try not to take dreams literally but notice the people and places that come up. Take note of the feeling of the dream. Taking time upon waking to journal with a pen and paper (this is important to activate your creative brain) can help you to figure out what you need to work with from the dream. Not every dream and not every part of a dream is of significance. The brain works hard to decompose of hard-to-process material while you sleep, so if you watch something scary or look at upsetting news, those themes could be in your dream. It might show you were to need to change your habits, like late night scrolling, rather than heal trauma. Above it all, trust yourself because you’ll know what you need to focus on.
If you want to take it to another level, try placing a crystal under your pillow. Yeah, it sounds a little crazy woowoo, but I’ve noticed that when I fall asleep with certain crystals in my bed (‘cause I’m a fucking hippie), I have the craziest, most profound dreams. Labradorite is the one I recommend the most because it is said to activate the third eye chakra, which can provide psychic downloads and enhance your intuition. It also looks like the planet Mercury, which is probably some super dope universe juju. Alternatively, others have reported profound introspection with the help of Agate and Tiger’s Eye.
I wish you the best during this time and hope that it provides a boost in your healing and personal growth journey. If you have any Mercury retrograde survival tips or try any of these and yield positive results, I would love to hear about it! Swell vibes,
