What in the world is a Moon Wobble?

From May 8 - 18, we are in the midst of a Moon Wobble. This phenomenon isn’t talked about often, but Jan Spiller, a great teacher of mine from the other side, often wrote about how these quarterly occurrences can cause an emotional stir in our lives. Since the Moon mimics the patterns in our own emotional lives, the Moon Wobble is what it sounds like––emotional instability. I did a Live on Instagram last week that dives into more details, but in short, Moon Wobbles happen when the Sun conjoins, squares, or opposes the nodes.

Since the Nodes are in Taurus and Scorpio, this means that in 2022 we will have four Moon Wobbles that occur when the Sun is in Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio. Aquarius and Leo are the signs that make a tense 90-degree square to this axis and Taurus and Scorpio are involved.

There is one day in particular where the Moon Wobble, or in technical terms, the conjunction or square to the Nodes, is exact, (May 13) but the turbulent energy that it brings can be felt in the week surrounding the event. The days leading up to the Moon Wobble can be the most intense.

The axis of Taurus and Scorpio teaches us about the balance of having our feet firmly planted on the earthen ground and the complete transcendence of surrender to the beyond. While the Moon Wobble is activating this polarity, we might feel more insecure about our material state regarding money, housing, or finances. The uncomfortable reality of mortality might come into play since that falls into the Scorpio domain. This period will heighten the emotional feelings around anything that falls in between the areas of these two signs. Pleasure and restraint might also come into play.

As always when we feel emotionally triggered, we have the opportunity to learn something about ourselves and our experience with the outside world. Notice what is making you feel stressed, anxious, or agitated over the next week and root down into the core. Journal about it, talk it out with a friend, and notice imagery that returns in your dreams or spontaneous ideas that come to mind. You can let emotional events like this one pass you by, but if you tune into what’s happening, you can wrap up unresolved issues and move through them.

The past can easily creep into the present around this time, especially if you’re searching for a security blanket. It’s a good idea to look objectively at the past when you’re not in an emotional headspace rather than revert to default patterns that might not really serve the direction you’re moving towards. On the flip side, don’t beat yourself up if you’re actively trying to make progress and you fall back onto patterns of the past– we’re all human.

A good thing to keep in mind is your own native Moon signature! Look to the sign and house the Moon lives in your chart to take the best care of yourself when things feel ungrounded.

If your Moon is in a fire sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) get your blood pumping with something that excites you– an adventure, a fast-paced activity, or a performance that gives you the good kinds of stress. If you have pent-up emotion, scream it out, go for a run, or take up kickboxing. Maybe even get it on…

If your Moon is in an earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) take some time to do something to invest in yourself that also makes you feel productive, think: a walk in nature, gardening, organizing your finances, etc. But, let’s not forget the sensual cravings of earth sign Moons, let yourself splurge on a nice face mask and have a little chocolate too.

If your Moon is in an air sign (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) finding a close friend or supportive group who can help you understand your feelings rationally and through conversation is healing. Listen to podcasts that expand your mind, read books that inspire hope, and work with your hands to release nervous energy!

If your Moon is in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) it’s a good idea to make art, sit by water or swim, take baths, have a cathartic cry, or listen to emotional music that matches your feelings.

Be gentle with yourself and others during this week and you’ll come away with a greater appreciation for your emotional radar for what it can illuminate in your life.

Books are now open for one-on-one sessions! Secure your spot!
