How I see Auras with synesthesia

Astrology, in watered-down terms, is a language of symbols derived from the ever-changing mechanics of the planetary system. It describes the things we experience but cannot touch or see. It’s a language of energy.  We are all energetic beings underneath these monkey suits, and I believe that the birth chart is an illustration of our eternal energy body. It provides symbols and words to explain a person’s presence or “vibe". Astrology also does a whole lot more but now isn’t the time for that digression.

If a chart is a blueprint of our energy body, then why isn’t it a blueprint of our aura? I say it is!

As someone with synesthesia, ideas and thoughts resonate as colors, sometimes smells, but mostly colors. When I grasp the message of the birth chart my mind is flooded in an array of tints and hues that help me to understand someone in a completely new and elevated dimension. It is this that provides a sixth sense that assists me in analyzing, synthesizing, and dissecting one’s birth chart.

For a little bit of backstory, it wasn’t until the last few years that I even knew the term synesthesia, let alone knew that that was what I was experiencing. I didn’t learn how to spell or read in a traditional sense using the phonics system often taught in schools, much to the surprise of my mother, a schoolteacher, and more importantly, a Virgo. But memorizing syllables, days of the week, months, and other keywords would only glue to my brain cells because of the color association to which they were attached.

I was in astrology school when someone lecturing said that people with prominent Neptune in their natal charts are likely to have synesthesia. “What is synesthesia?” That was my first question. WebMD says “Synesthesia is when you hear music, but you see shapes. Or you hear a word or a name and instantly see a color. Synesthesia is a fancy name for when you experience one of your senses through another. ... it translates to “perceive together.” People who have this ability are called synesthetes.”

Having strong Neptune placements, allows you to experience the liminal space, which connects everything. Let that sink in for a second before moving forward. Selah. Sure enough, I have Neptune trine my Sun, Mercury, and opposite the Moon.

Since I began to integrate this into my practice more externally, clients have shared with me their own synesthesia experiences. Those with Neptune on the ascendant or Midheaven, Neptune aspecting one of the luminaries or Mercury, or even Pisces stellium (having three or more planets in a sign) might also experience this. If you think you might have spiritual gifts, check out this blog.

I started making digital art to show what I’m experiencing, hopefully, to give you a deeper appreciation for how unique and beautiful you truly are. I’ve found that it gives a person a whole new way of experiencing themselves that goes beyond the traditional way of using the five senses or any language. One of my greatest loves in high school was acrylic paint, so while I’m nomadic and setting up an easel isn’t ideal, my digital art often replicates some of the signatures of an acrylic painting. You can view some of them here in the Aura Gallery.

There are now two ways to get your own AuraArt digital print! If you’d like your AuraArt along with a birth chart reading, The Cadillac is the one you want! You can get an AuraArt report a la carte that includes digital AuraArt, a 10+ page report, a custom poem, a color key, and more. Shop AuraArt Reports here! They make excellent gifts.
